This past Friday, I had my summer hours at work, so I got to leave at noon. I took full advantage of the time off and went to the Red River Valley Fair with my friend Andrea and her two daughters.
The fair only comes around once a year and I seem to hardly ever make it there. It can get pretty expensive and it’s often so hot out that it becomes a miserable experience. This year however, was a blast! We got there before 1 pm so we actually got free gate admission, that was a huge perk!
Andrea and I didn’t go on any rides, but she got her daughters wrist bands so they could go on unlimited rides all day. After we got their wrist bands, we headed straight for the cheese curd stand.
I can’t go to the fair and not get cheese curds. It just isn’t possible.
This is my happy place.
Seriously. Look at all the food choices. And this is not even HALF of the places.
After eating, we starting walking around the fair grounds looking at the different rides. The kids went on quite a few! I took pictures of some of their favorites.
Hello, bee. Peace to you too.
There was even a corn in a cup stand! I had never seen a stand like that.
I wanted to go on this tower ride SO BAD.
But instead I spent my money on food… and gambling at this money-thieving game! (NEVER AGAIN).
After a lot of rides, we went back to the food cart area. I got a blended cookies n cream coffee. It was pretty good, but I got a major brain freeze trying to chug it down.
I also accidentally bought some buffalo cheese and bacon, jalapeño-covered curly fries. No way could I eat them all. SO RICH. But oh so delicious.
I also got about a thousand of these bad boys 😉
We walked around the grounds more and came across a “freak show” tent. We decided not to go in, because it seemed kind of sad.
I even found Harry Potter!
And being the smart girl I am, I forgot my sunscreen in the car and got a ridiculous looking sunburn.
I couldn’t leave the fair without a classic funnel cake!
Andrea surprised me and got one for me 🙂 She’s a great friend.
She also got some deep fried oreos and cookie dough (I of course tried both). YUM. After stuffing ourselves with junk food, we headed home to relax. It was a perfect day! We were at the fair for over 5 hours and it flew by!
