A Minnesota Weekend Getaway

As I said a couple posts ago: I am super behind on life catch ups. So this post is all about a trip I took to Minnesota to see Tony and what we did… The weekend of July 14th… over a month ago.

ANYWHO. I worked until 5 that Friday and then made the 2.5 hour drive to Tony’s place.

He took me to one of his favorite wing places. And they did not disappoint!

When we got back to his place, he gave me an early birthday present. My beautiful babies on a phone case!!

The next morning we woke up early to road trip to Taylors Falls, MN.

Tony planned out the trip as a birthday surprise for me (although he told me about it the week before to cheer me up on a stressful day haha). He is the most thoughtful guy and I am so lucky to have him.

I was so excited when we pulled up!

Such a cool chair.

Look at that view- even before getting out on the boat!

We made it on!

America <3

It was gorgeous and relaxing.

The water looked so dirty! But the tour guide explained that the color was actually caused by the minerals in the rocks. Pretty interesting!

Old man face in the rock… do you see it?

The back of the boat was really cool to see.

You know I shouted “I’m king of the world!”

After the boat ride, we went to a drive in that some of my friends had recommended.

Root beer float and a malt!

We each got a burger (so healthy I know).

After a delicious lunch, we parked the car and went to walk around the cute little town. We went to a bunch of little shops. I couldn’t believe this amazing bead store! I don’t make jewelry, but if I did- this place woulda been my Heaven!

As we were walking, we came across some trails that went through the trees and down by the river.

We decided to go on a little hike!

It was crazy hot out, so after the hike we got back into the car and BLASTED the air conditioning. I loved this little house-turned restaurant.

We googled things to do in the area, and Tony found a place called “Franconia” for us to check out.

This place was somethin else. I don’t even know how to describe it. It’s basically a bunch of GIANT pieces of artwork spread out through big beautiful fields full of wildflowers.

Prepare for a bunch of flowers and sculpture photos… ready? GO:

One especially… interesting sculpture that was verrrry far off in the distance.

It was a crazy place!! But super fun to explore for sure. I recommend checking them out if you’re ever in the Shafer, MN area!

That afternoon, we met up with Tony’s brother and sister for pizza. I got a bloody mary (because Minnesota doesn’t really have Clamato juice which make me very sad).

That night we went to Tony’s brother’s friend’s (wow what a mouthful to say) house and met his amazing cat who looked like he was wearing pants!!!

I also saw a really cool colored dragon fly. I LOVE dragon flies.

The next morning, Tony and I went to church and then to a mini farmer’s market. He bought me some strawberries and green peppers the size of my head! They are displayed on an amazing side table I bought in Taylors Falls at an antique store.

Tony cleaned the inside of my car from top to bottom, and it looked brand new 🙂

When I left to go back home, his dad sent me with some treats from his garden: snap peas and giant spinach!

Got the table all set up when I got home.

Rogue approved.

And then I cuddled with the Raja.

It was a PERFECT weekend away.

Hope you have a great labor day ahead- any big plans?! Thanks for sharing this with us, girlfriend! XO
