Festive Simmer Pot Recipe

I love the smell of the holidays: cinnamon, apple, warm vanilla. I use a lot of wax melts in my home, but I wanted to try out a different idea I’d seen: simmer pots.

A simmer pot is basically boiling water filled with fragrant things like cinnamon sticks and fruit peels. Boiling the water releases all the wonderful scents and lowering the heat to a simmer allows you to safely release the scent for hours at a time.

And although I called this a recipe- please do not consume this. I imagine it would taste pretty strong!

Festive Simmer Pot

•3 cinnamon sticks
•1 tsp ground cloves (or whole cloves)
•rind peeled from one orange
•skin peeled from one apple
•1 tsp vanilla

Fill a pot halfway with water and set on high heat.

Peel the orange and apple and add the peels to the water.

Add the cinnamon sticks, cloves, and vanilla to water and bring everything to a boil.

Once it boils, reduce the heat to a simmer and leave it as long as you like (adding more water if needed) and enjoy the holiday scent that fills your home!
